Favorite Hobby Outside of Work
I enjoy creating items on my plasma and laser tables, such as metal and wood art, signs, engravings, and custom gifts for family, friends, and other businesses.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud of my wife and kids for all they’ve accomplished.
Alternate Career Choice
If I weren’t in this job, I’d choose to be an automotive instructor. I love teaching, helping people learn how things work, and showing them how to fix problems.
First Car & Early Career
First Car: My first car was a 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe. I got a bank loan to buy it at 16, but after about a week, the bank realized they’d lent money to a teenager! My grandpa had to step in and officially take the loan out for me.
Early Career: I began working on cars at 16 in high school. My first job was at an automotive electrical repair shop, where I spent four years repairing electrical wiring issues and rebuilding starters and alternators.
Education & Career Progression
- Attended technical college, earning an associate degree in automotive technology.
- Worked for four years with a mechanical contractor, repairing fleet vehicles for what is now Durand Automotive.
- Dealership Experience:
- Ford/Chrysler dealership for 2 years
- Chrysler/Kia dealership for 5 years
- Chrysler/Jeep dealership for 1 year
- Long-term Role: Spent 19 years with a large Agriculture/Construction OEM, providing technical service support, creating operator and service manuals, and designing wiring and hydraulic schematics for the dealer network.
Certifications
I am a certified Ford and Chrysler Technician, a Master ASE Technician, and an L1 Certified ASE Technician.
